An EBR (Extended Boot Record), or EPBR (Extended Partition Boot Record), is a logical partition descriptor for Windows hard drive partitions. It controls and manages the data stored on the particular logical partition. Every logical partition has its separate EBR and one entry of EBR table is stored in MBR or Master Boot Record. EBR is stored on the very first sector of extended (logical) hard drive partition. The EBR is used for following purposes:
1. Holding the Logical partition table of the particular partition

3. Storing pointer to the next EBR, if any.
