Data Recovery after BIOS Parameter Block Corruption

Published by admin under Data Recovery

A BPB or BIOS Parameter Block is a variant record associated within the boot block. It is stored on the block zero of the hard drive volume. It stores all of the information related to hard drive volume like file system format, and gives several pieces of (file system dependent) information regarding the size and layout of some on disk data structures for the file system.

The BIOS in BPB is not a reference to what is in these days commonly referred to as “the BIOS”: the computer’s firmware. The Windows computer firmware is completely ignorant of BIOS. The BPB exists in the upper half of the operating system and deals with the system calls made to particular volume either primary or logical.
There are some situations where your system can’t understand the system calls made by you and it may also happen the your system doesn’t recognize your operating system at startup. These situations occur if the BIOS parameter block of your hard drive volume is corrupted or damaged.

Hard Disk Problems That Can Lead To Hard Disk Crash

Published by admin under Data Recovery

A hard disk crash can be caused due to several reasons. There are a number of factors that increase the possibility of hard disk failure, and most of these factors are not related to the age of hard disk. When a hard drive fails, several computer users try to open it and repair it by themselves. It is a big mistake as the internal components of the hard disk are very delicate and susceptible to scratches, dust, dirt, corrosion and fingerprints.

Hard disk crash factors

This simplest cause for hard drive physical crash is a burnt logical or circuit board. When the logical board has failure, the hard drive won’t spin up. Another cause the hard drive may not spin is motor failure. When the motor fails, the drive would either not spin at all or would spin at an unpredictable and degraded speed.

Sometimes, users may hear the clicking sounds coming from their hard disk. These clicking sounds indicate either head crash or corrupt firmware. Both of these situations will need extensive help from a data recovery service provider company in order to repair and retrieve the data.   Continue Reading »
