Resolving Fatal System Error at Windows XP Startup due to Norton GoBack

Published by admin at 11:29 pm under Data Recovery

Norton GoBack enables you to save the changes made upto 8 GB on your hard drive. This Windows based disk utility enables you to revert back the disk drive to a particular safe point. It also enables a user to restore older versions of files and to browse the previous states of whole hard drive. However, after installing this application, when you restart your system, you might receive an error message. Once the error message appears, the system gets halted and becomes unbootable. In such situations, if you have not created an updated data backup on a different drive, you need to go for Data Recovery Software to extract your files.

As a practical instance, you encounter the below error message after you install Norton GoBack software on your computer and then restart your system:

“C000021a (fatal system error)
The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000003a (0×00000000, 0×00000000)”

Cause:

The above error message mainly occurs when you have installed Norton GoBack software on your system and it is present in the boot sector. The user encounters the same error message each time he attempts to start his computer.

Resolution:

To resolve the above problem and access hard drive data, you need to disable Norton GoBack and uninstall it. You can not disable or uninstall Norton GoBack in Safe Mode. For complete uninstall, you need to follow below steps:

  1. You need to restart your computer system.
  2. During the startup process, press space bar to access GoBack’s menu options.
  3. Enter the option for Disable GoBack when prompted and then allow the computer to complete the startup process.
  4. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs.
  5. In the list of installed programs, select GoBack and click Remove.
  6. Finally, follow the on-screen commands to completely uninstall Norton GoBack.

However, if you are unable to uninstall Norton GoBack by following the above steps and encounter the same error message at Windows XP startup, you need to reinstall the operating system. A clean reinstall of Windows XP operating system will result as complete loss of data from the Windows partition. In the absence of updated data backup, you need to use advanced File Recovery application to recover all files and folders after Windows reinstall. Such Data Recovery utilities employ advanced scanning methods to recover and restore lost data from a formatted hard drive. These user-friendly utilities provide interactive interface, which makes these applications easy-to-understand without prior technical knowledge.
