Partition Recovery Post “Load Needed DLLs for kernel” Error

Published by admin under Partition Recovery Software

A hard disk can be divided into logically separated storage units called as partitions. Every partition is formatted according to a file system. The file system decides the method of organizing and storing the data into the partition. Different operating systems use different file systems, such as Windows operating system uses NTFS, FAT, or exFat file system. Therefore, if the partition or partition file system suffers from some corruption or malfunction then chances of data inaccessibility or data loss saved on that partition are created.

However, there are measures available online to fix the problems related to partition corruption. But, sometimes these solution measures too fail to rectify the issue and thus the problem itself compels the user to reformat the partition. Though, reformatting deletes all the data from the hard drive partition but the data can easily be recovered form updated backup. In the absence of backup, third-party partition recovery software can do the needful.

Let us discuss this issue through practical example. Consider, when you try to start your Microsoft Windows XP based computer (which has NTFS partition), encountered the following error message:

Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this problem as: load needed DLLs for kernel. Please contact your support person to report this problem.”

After encountering this error message, you may become unable to boot your system. However, to solve this issue, you must understand the causes behind occurrence of this error message.

Cause:

This issue occurs when the Hal.dll and Ntoskrnl.exe files are mismatched.

Resolution:

To solve this problem start your computer with Windows XP installation CD then follow the below mentioned steps:

  • Go to setup page and repair the Windows installation by selecting ‘R’.
  • Now at the recovery console, run CHKDSK, to fix the errors on your disk.
  • Try to run BOOTCFG/rebuilt, to rebuild the boot configuration. Provide all the information which are asked and press Enter.
  • Then try to run FIXBOOT , to fix the current boot sector.
  • In the end try to run FIXMBR to fix the issues related to Master Boot Record of your system.
  • Now, go out of the recovery console by selecting Exit and restart your computer.

Most of the times the above recommended resolution steps can solve the issue and fix the error. But, there are times when these solutions fail to workaround the situation at that time you are left with single choice that is to format your Windows XP based hard drive and restore the data from updated backup. However, in the absence of an updated backup, one is left with a choice that is to use third-party partition recovery software to recover precious data. These software can recover your data lost due to formatting or deletion of partitions.

One such software is Stellar Phoenix Partition Recovery Software. This efficient partition recovery software for Windows operating system based computers recover lost, deleted, or inaccessible partitions. The software has intuitive user-interface which does not require knowledge of data recovery or prior training of the software. This efficient software supports the data recovery from FAT and NTFS file systems and is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000.

You have been working hard on a project; the submission is after two days. You are all set to make a good impression. But then, when you start your computer, you don’t hear it boot. Instead, you see a blank screen displaying the error message: “Unable to read partition table.” To your horror, you realize that the error message displayed means that your NTFS partition is lost. You panic! What are you supposed to do? The system doesn’t seem to respond. You try restarting – with no effect. You go numb when you realize, you don’t have any copy of the project work done except the one lying in your computer. You pray for a miracle, at the same time, start wondering if there is any NTFS file recovery software that would help you recover not only the lost partition but also all your data stored within.

NTFS Partition

NTFS partition is a storage space on the hard disk. It is common to find several partitions on a single Computer System. The NTFS partition may get lost or damaged due to virus infection, power fluctuations, damaged operating system, or abrupt shutting down of the system. In such a situation one of the following error messages may get displayed indicating a corrupt or lost NTFS partition:

—“Unable to read partition table”

—“Invalid partition table”

—“Missing Operating System”

—“Error loading Operating system”

Cause:

The problem occurs when partition table gets damaged or corrupted, due to which boot files, and boot record cannot be located.

Can data be recovered from a damaged or lost partition?

One of the ways to recover NTFS partition is to format your system and freshly install the Windows Operating System. Though this would help recover your system, but what about the data saved in it? With 90% of work done on your project, can you afford to lose all that data? Well, you need not worry about it? Good third party NTFS Data recovery software not only recover lost partition, but also the data saved in it! These NTFS partition recovery tools use powerful recovery algorithms to recover not just the deleted data, but also all deleted partitions.

Stellar Phoenix NTFS Data Recovery software efficiently performs NTFS Data recovery from all NTFS and NTFS5 file system partitions. The software can efficiently take hard drive images, effective in raid recovery and clone them. Most importantly, it is compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000.

Running Extensive Stress Test May Cause File System Corruption in Windows

In computing, stress test is a process to testing a system by putting great emphasis on availability, error handling, and robustness under heavy load. It is done to ensure that the system does not fail or crash in situations where sufficient computational resources are not available. However sometimes it can create problems and cause system failure. Such behaviors can also lead critical data loss in some cases. In such critical circumstances, an absolute and valid backup of your valuable data proves great help. But, if backup is not available, data recovery software are required to get your mission-critical data recovered.

In a practical scenario, you may come across file system corruption and file corruption like situations when you run extensive stress test on an NTFS (New Technology File System) partition on Windows 2003 Server computer.

After this behavior, you may not be able to access Windows hard drive partitions and stored data. To retrieve lost data in the event of system failure, you must find out the cause of this behavior and then perform data recovery by fixing it.

Cause

This issue may occur only if all the below conditions are true when stress test is run for many hours:

Your Windows computer has small NTFS file system partitions.

The NTFS file system partition on your hard drive is almost full or full.

Almost 1,000 delete, create, or extend operations are run simultaneously.

Your Windows system has multiple processors.

Resolution

The above problem is quite improbably to take place if the underwritten conditions are true:
Your system has a large NTFS file system partitions. This behavior generally occurs on the small NTFS file system partitions, which range from 1-24 GB (Gigabytes). As partition becomes larger, the possibilities of corruption are significantly decreased.

Free extend, create, or delete operations occur.

The database writes and reads are limited to the files, to which you have already allocated space on the hard drive.

If you do not take the above precautions, serious data loss situations occur and data recovery tools become the last resort to fix it.

The data recovery software are specifically developed to thoroughly scan entire hard drive and extract all lost, missing, and inaccessible data from it. They work in all possible data loss scenarios, ranging from accidental deletion to serious system crash.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the most advanced and comprehensive utility to ensure safe and easy recovery of lost Windows data. The software is designed for Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP, and 2000. It supports recovery from all NTFS5, NTFS, FAT32, VFAT, FAT16, and FAT12 file system partitions.

How Can the Asset Recovery Help You to Retrieve Lost Data?

These days, nearly all business organizations need to use effective computers in order to work effectively. Nevertheless of the excellence of your computer system, there comes a time point when it requires to be substituted. Operating systems malfunctions, new inventions develop, and frequent wear and tear may actually degrade even the best system. But you can not throw your failed systems away as they contain significant data and information that are essential for your business. In such cases, you need to go for Data Recovery solutions to extract data from failed systems.

The process of retrieving data from unusable computers is known as Asset Recovery in business terms. It is the process of maximizing value of the end of life or unused assets through efficient divestment or rescue. Both small and large organization use this type of recovery at some level with end goal of getting the highest possible return from asset. This is also the procedure of liquidating the excess inventory of the healthy organizations, equipment returned, or refurbished items.

When it comes to retrieve data from to failed systems, asset recovery needs specific type of applications or services. The type of solution depends upon the cause and type of failure. There are basically two types of system failure and data loss- Logical and Physical.

Logical Failure:

This is the type of failure, which occurs due to damage to the logical components of your system such as applications, system data structures, and operating system. The logical failure is caused by file system corruption, hard drive formatting, operating system malfunction, hard drive formatting, virus infection, accidental deletion, and sabotage.

You can extract lost data in such cases through effective and advanced Data Recovery Software. The recovery applications use high-end scanning techniques to perform through scan of damaged drive and extract all lost, missing, and inaccessible data from it. With read-only conduct and simple graphical user interface, Data Recovery is safe and easy with these tools.

Physical Failure:

Such kind of system failure takes place due to mechanical failure of hard drive components. It may occur due to read/write head crash, disk controller failure, power surges, accidental drop down, spindle motor damage, natural disasters, and overheating. The system may not detect your drive in such cases and does not boot up.

Windows Unbootable after Changing Cluster Size

All file systems (including of Windows, like FAT32, NTFS etc.) use a definite cluster size to organize data on the hard disk. The hard disk cluster size is the smallest value of disk space that is allocated to hold a file and is defined at the time of formatting the disk. When you try to change the set cluster size value of hard disk, chances are that the process may affect the boot structures as well. The third-party utilities that claim to safely change the cluster size value can sometimes, bring adverse effects to the Windows boot process. Thus, it is strongly recommended to backup all your data prior to use any utility that draws any direct consequences to your hard disk structures and data. But if you still lose data, you can use a Partition recovery utility to perform data recovery. Partition Recovery

To elaborate such problems, suppose you use a third-party software to change the existing cluster size of your Windows based hard disk. The utility reports successful process completion. But the next time, when you try to boot the computer, it fails and you receive an error message, similar to below:

A Disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart”

The data stored on hard disk is inaccessible and you cannot boot the computer even at subsequent attempts.

Cause

The described issue can occur due to corruption in hard disk MBR (Master Boot Record). MBR is the first sector read by computer to load the operating system and find disk partitions. The third-party software used in this case can corrupt the MBR.

Solution

Boot your computer using Windows installation disc and start command prompt. To fix and rewrite the MBR, you need to run the /fixmbr command.

If this solution doesn’t work and data is still out of access, you are suggested to use a Partition Recovery Software to recover the lost data, however, you can reformat the disk if a good backup is available. Partition Recovery utilities use effective scanning algorithms to analyze the crashed disk and extract the lost data safely.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is a fully-featured data recovery utility designed for Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000 based systems. The advanced Partition Recovery Software is compatible with FAT32, VFAT, NTFS, and NTFS5 file systems. The software has a graphically enriched interface with powerful features, like RAW File Recovery, Disk Cloning, Disk Imaging etc.
